At Steurs, they have been refining their expertise in prepress, premedia, and design for 70 years. When Steurs moved from Antwerp to Wijnegem, it was the perfect time to work even more safely and innovatively. Thus, they were looking for a safe acetone substitute for degreasing and cleaning printing plates.

A safe acetone substitute

A few days after their request, Eco-Point arranged a meeting to find a solution together. Several tests were conducted with solvents, and Safeco proved to work very well for this purpose, even though it was a brand-new product at the time. It quickly became clear that Safeco offered a very efficient and economical solution, as the volume of Safeco needed to degrease a plate is much smaller than the volume of acetone required for the same task.

There are many other advantages that were decisive in choosing Safeco. Safeco contains no hazard symbols, so no extra PPE, ventilation, or special storage is needed. Moreover, Safeco has no aggressive or unpleasant odor, and it is not as volatile, resulting in less “loss” from the evaporation of hazardous and flammable acetone.

A water-dilutable ink remover

To remove water-based inks from clichés and rollers, Steurs uses the product Flexeco Plus, a safe, biodegradable, and water-dilutable ink remover. Thanks to Eco-Point’s cleaning products, they no longer use dangerous and harmful products for cleaning and degreasing their clichés. Employees can work in complete safety, while also considering our planet and the environment.
